Recent research in civil engineering reveals material and structural innovations: the addition of 0.3% CF-31500 cellulose fiber to an AC-BC asphalt mixture increases durability 1.5-fold based on a residual strength index of ≥90%. In the area of steel structures, openings in shear walls reduce lateral capacity by >50%, while a rafter truss system proved to be the most efficient for a warehouse in Padang with a cost savings of 15.17% compared to wide flanges and 10% versus castellated beams. For earthquake resistance, the implementation of eccentric bracing with short links in a five-story steel structure in Padang was designed according to SNI 1729:2020 and AISC 341-16 to optimize seismic energy absorption. In reinforced concrete elements, a failure variation analysis confirmed an under-reinforced design as the optimal choice based on flexural performance, stress distribution, and deflection control. These collective findings offer an integrated solution for improving material durability, cost efficiency, and structural reliability in tropical and seismic environments.
