Peer Review Process

Jurnal Bangunan, Konstruksi & Desain (JBKD) adheres to a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the academic quality and integrity of the published content. This review model ensures that the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.

Review Process
Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial evaluation by the editor-in-chief or assigned section editors to ensure that it aligns with the journal's scope and adheres to submission guidelines. Manuscripts passing this screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers for evaluation.

Reviewer Selection
Reviewers are chosen based on their expertise in the subject areas relevant to the manuscript. Reviewers are tasked with providing a thorough, unbiased, and timely evaluation, focusing on the scientific validity, originality, clarity, and relevance of the manuscript.

Criteria for Evaluation
Reviewers assess manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  • Scientific soundness and methodological rigor.
  • Relevance to the journal’s focus and scope.
  • Originality of the research.
  • Clarity and coherence of the arguments presented.
  • Contribution to the fields of construction, design, and engineering.
  • Proper citation and acknowledgment of previous relevant work.

Decision Process
Based on the reviewers' reports, the editor-in-chief or section editors will make one of the following decisions:

  • Accept without revisions: The manuscript is ready for publication as is.
  • Minor revisions: The manuscript requires minor improvements before it can be published.
  • Major revisions: The manuscript requires significant modifications and will undergo further review after resubmission.
  • Reject: The manuscript is unsuitable for publication in JBKD.

In cases where reviewer opinions conflict, the editor may seek additional input or make a final decision based on the strength of the arguments provided by the reviewers.

Anonymity and Confidentiality
To maintain fairness, the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the review process. Reviewers are expected to respect this confidentiality and should not share or discuss manuscript content with others. Furthermore, they should refrain from using any information obtained from the manuscript for personal benefit.

Reviewer Guidelines and Responsibilities
Reviewers are provided with detailed guidelines to assist them in the evaluation process. They are expected to provide constructive feedback and recommend improvements where necessary. Personal criticism is discouraged. Reviewers must also disclose any potential conflicts of interest and decline to review manuscripts if they believe they cannot provide an impartial assessment.

Appeals Process
Authors who believe that their manuscript was unfairly rejected may submit a written appeal, addressing the specific issues raised in the review. The editor-in-chief will review the appeal and, if necessary, consult additional experts. The final decision on the appeal rests with the editor-in-chief.

Compliance with Licensing
All peer-reviewed content in JBKD is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial (CC BY-NC) license. This license allows others to share and adapt the work for non-commercial purposes, provided proper attribution is given. Authors and reviewers must ensure that the research adheres to these licensing terms and that any third-party content included in the manuscript complies with the CC BY-NC license.

This peer review policy ensures adherence to the highest academic standards and follows the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing, while complying with the journal’s licensing requirements under the CC BY-NC license.
